WATCH: RJ Abarrientos leads the Philippines to back-to-back wins in the FIBA 3×3 U23 World Cup

The Philippine U23 3×3 Team ended the group stage on a high note. They got on the board with a dominant win over the 14th seeded Turkmenistan team. They followed it up with an upset of the third-seeded Team China.

Unfortunately, those back-to-back wins wasn’t enough to get them to the quarterfinals. China and Slovenia advance to the next phase with identical 3-1 records. The Philippines finished with a 2-2 record.

RJ Abarrientos showcased his scoring ability leading the Philippines in scoring against Turkmenistan. He dropped eight points including a highlight layup and three-pointer to give the Philippines a double-digit lead. They won the game, 21-8.

Abarrientos continued his hot streak against the Chinese. He dropped 10 points on four three-pointers to lead the Philippines to the win. The Filipinos rushed out to a fast start as they grabbed a five-point lead, 10-5. Abarrientos’ long bombs kept the Chinese at bay as the Philippines won, 21-15.

This year’s team is composed of Abarrientos, Ricci Rivero, Rhayyan Amsali and Jeepy Faundo.
