Metta World Peace has given no formal indication that he’s retiring from the NBA. But that didn’t stop LA fans from treating his final game at the Staples Center this season as if it was his last ever.
And the artist formerly known as Ron Artest responded in kind.
World Peace exploded for a season-high 18 points, all in the second half, to help the Lakers win their fifth straight game, 108-96 over the short-handed New Orleans Pelicans.
He shot 7-of-17 from the field, 4-of-10 from beyond the arc, and added four rebounds, an assist, and four steals, in just under 25 minutes of action.
The Lakers still have one more game on their schedule, at Golden State tomorrow, but this was an appropriate swan song, if that is the case, for the Panda’s Friend.
Unless of course, he wants to suit up for Mahindra in the PBA.
