In the first game of the 2018 NBA China Games, Joel Embiid and JJ Redick put on a show in front of their fans in Shanghai. The two formed a potent inside-out combo to power the Philadelphia 76ers past the Dallas Mavericks.
After falling behind by nine points early in the game, Embiid powered his way in the paint and scored all over the Mavericks frontline. He led the Sixers to a 38-point second quarter to get back in the game. Embiid finished with a double-double of 22 points and 10 rebounds.
In the second half, it was Redick that came alive. The veteran shooting guard caught fire and just couldn’t miss. His outside shooting propelled the Sixers ahead and kept the Mavericks at bay. Redick scored a game-high 28 points on perfect 10 of 10 shooting. He nailed all seven of his treys to lead the Sixers in scoring.
The Sixers and Mavericks will play a second game on October 8 in Shenzhen.
