Tracy McGrady became the second former Toronto Raptor to receive a special tribute from the team as part of their 20th anniversary celebrations.
McGrady, selected ninth overall by the Raptors in the 1997 NBA Draft, spent three seasons with the team, going from seldom-used player, to sixth man, and then part of a one-two punch on the wings with his cousin Vince Carter.
The latter combination was strong enough to get Toronto to their first NBA Playoffs, though they got swept by the New York Knicks
However, the partnership didn’t last long, as McGrady signed with the Orlando Magic during the next offseason.
And while “What if Tracy McGrady and Vince Carter stayed together?” will go down in NBA history as one of the most tantalizing what if’s, it’s still nice to see McGrady get some love from the North.
