Three-Point Play: The PCCL

Got a few questions for you guys before we start out the Three-Point Play this week.

  1. Did you know that it is Game 3 of the PCCL Finals?
  2. Did you know that UST and Ateneo are fighting it out?
  3. Did you know that you can’t bite your fully stretched palm?

High fives to everyone that tried number three.

Yes folks, we are apparently at the finale of the PCCL. For those that don’t know, the PCCL stands for the Philippine Collegiate Champions League. It has been going on for a decade now. It is the tournament that brings together all of the top collegiate squads around the country and they duke it out to see who will be named the best team in all of the land.

So why does nobody care? Why are there no bonfires when a team is named the best school in the Philippines? Why can’t we bite our palm?! The #SLAMFam try to break it down for you.

1. Who wins Game 3?

Robi Raya

I’m an Atenean and I’m going with the Blue Eagles right? Right?

Not really. I think the PCCL championship is like a Yeezy 2 for UST while it’s only like a Hyperfuse for ADMU. I feel that it should mean way more to the Growling Tigers. They should be more motivated to return the roundhouse haymaker they got in the UAAP Finals from the Blue Eagles with at least a jab.

After that unfortunate incident, look for Jeric Teng to go ham on ADMU and have a huge Game 3.

Nikko Ramos

Who wins? Man I don’t know. Ateneo and UST have given us incredible games the entire year. And I mean fantastic, tell-your-kids-about-it, will-surely-be-exaggerated-to-unimaginable-heights good. Ateneo wins titles. That’s all they do. That’s all they’ve done in the Nico Salva era. No matter what your opinion of him is, he has the best mid range game in all of college and he plays huge in the Finals. Tough to see anyone beating him and his Eagles as they go for one last chip, albeit a smaller, less shiny one.

THAT BEING SAID HOWEVER, I have learned never to doubt Pido Jarencio. Dude just finds ways. This title means more to them than it does to Ateneo. Not necessarily because it’s the PCCL title, but because they honestly believe they’re the better team. And now they have one final chance to prove it. One team going for a smaller chip to add to the lot, another team with a giant chip on their shoulders. Go Uste.

I think that Adamson is going to win this. Wait, they aren’t in it anymore? San Beda? Uhm…

Oh ok. Wait, its Game 3 already? Uhm…

(Opens up Google again.)

Alright. I think I got it. I’m going with the NLEX Road Warriors.
