The Phoenix Suns now have the enviable task of making the first selection in this year’s draft.
The Suns, owners of the worst record in the recently-concluded, have won the 2018 NBA Draft Lottery. This is the first time in franchise history the Suns will be picking first in the NBA Draft. The Sacramento Kings will be picking second and the Atlanta Hawks own the third pick.
The Suns finished the season with only 21 wins giving them the highest odds of getting the number one pick at 25%. They also came into the Lottery with a 64.2% chance of making a top three pick.
The Kings made huge jump into the second spot. They finished with the seventh best record at 27-55, tied with the Chicago Bulls. They only had an 18.3% chance of making it to the top three, odds which they overcame to get the second pick. The Atlanta Hawks finished with the fourth worst record at 24-58. They won a virtual coin flip with the Dallas Mavericks for the third pick as both had 42.6% chances of getting a top three pick.
