Gilas started off strong. After winning the opening top, Sotto opened the game with a hammer. Adbadiano scored on a floater to help Gilas go up 4-0. Gilas was able to keep the lead up to four points, 12-8 after a layup by Ildefonso and Geo Chiu. But Serbia eventually took the lead when Sotto went to the bench. Gilas was still within five points after the first period.

Unfortunately, the Gilas bigs got into foul trouble in the second period. With Sotto nailed to the bench, Serbia took advantage inside and slowly pulled away in the second period. They pounded the ball into paint as big man Filip Petrusev scored 11 of his total points in the second period. Serbia build a 15-point lead heading to the second half.

Serbia took full control of the game in the second half. They limited Gilas to 32 points while scoring 44 points of their own in the final two periods of the game. Serbia shot a clean 47% from the field and 51% from the two-point area. Serbia assisted on 32 of their 35 made field goals to highlight their crisp offensive execution. Gilas finished with only 38.5% shooting as they continued to struggle on the offensive end of the floor.

The Gilas Youth will face Australia next in the Classification Stage.
