San Beda escapes Perpetual’s home court with a close win

SBC Red Lions 57 – UPHSD 53

The Red Lions escaped Las Pinas with a win. Barely.

Both Perpetual and San Beda were looking for the win. The Altas were playing in front of their home crowd and wanted to build a winning streak of their own. The Red Lions, having racked up five straight wins, were gunning for a sixth.

It was an ugly, gritty game with both teams struggling to find their rhythm. They both shot below 30% for the entire game and committed a ton of turnovers. Neither team could pull away as the game turned stayed close until the dying minutes.

With a little over a minute left in the game, the home team held a slim lead, 53-52. The Red Lions worked the ball around until it landed on the hands of Clint Doliguez. He fired a shot from behind the arc that helped San Beda regain a two-point lead.

Perpetual couldn’t capitalize on their next possession. Jomari Presbitero tried to seal the win with a dagger on the other end but missed his shot. Robert Bolick was there to collect the offensive rebound and ice the game with two freebies.

Bolick’s shot was off the entire game but he contributed everywhere else. He scored 10 points on 15% shooting but grabbed 11 rebounds and had seven assists. Clint Doliguez had 11 points, eight boards and two treys. Gab Daganon led the Perps with 17 points.
