Romeo, Jalalon bolster back court against Chinese-Taipei

Coach Chot Reyes announced earlier today the final 12 for the game against Chinese-Taipei this Friday. ESPN 5’s Chuck Araneta, traveling with the team in Taiwan announced the roster on social media.

The final 12 men includes familiar names such as Andray Blatche, June Mar Fajardo, Japeth Aguilar, Matthew Wright, Calvin Abueva, RR Pogoy and Gabe Norwood. The core of the roster for Chinese-Taipei consists of players who have played all four games in the past two windows. Jayson Castro, who missed a game due to injury is also part of this core.

Troy Rosario is back in the final 12 after playing against Japan and Chinese-Taipei in previous games. Allein Maliksi also made it to the team after playing against Australia.

With Kiefer Ravena still serving a FIBA-mandated suspension for use of banned substances, there was a need for additional back court support for Castro. That’s why Coach Reyes included Jio Jalalon who played against Japan in the second window in the final 12. Making his return to the team is Terrence Romeo. Romeo missed the past two windows as he recovered from injury. He will bring much needed fire power to Gilas against Chinese-Taipei.
