San Beda Red Cubs superstar point guard and SLAM Rising Star Evan Nelle will be staying home. In a report by ABS-CBN Sports’ Normie Riego, Nelle will join the San Beda Red Lions for NCAA Season 94.

Nelle has led the Red Cubs to multiple championships in different leagues in the past three years. Last year in their Season 93 campaign, he assumed the role of the floor general of the team. Nelle led the team in assists several times last season. He finished last season with averages of 14.2 points, 6.8 assists, 5.0 rebounds and 1.3 steals per game.
The 5’10” guard has a slender frame but also has long arms and quick feet. Don’t let his slight body fool you. Nelle is a smart player that uses space well to create for himself or for his teammates. He’s comfortable playing as the lead guard or an off-ball option. He can run the pick and roll and use the space created for midrange jumpers. But he’s fine spotting up for open three-pointers as evidenced by his league leading 42 makes last year. Nelle is comparable to someone like Jvee Casio. A combo guard who can do damage as a PG or SG. He himself agrees with the comparison saying that Casio is “a very smart player so I want to be like him.”
Nelle was part of the 2016 SLAM Rising Stars Classic where he played alongside current UAAP seniors players Aljun Melecio, Ricci Rivero, Tyler Tio and Juan Gomez De Liano. Nelle made his mark in that game in the fourth quarter when he buried two straight three-pointers to help Team Punks pull away for the win.
Nelle is the second SLAM Rising Stars alum to join the Red Lions. Carlo Abadeza will also be playing for San Beda in Season 94.
