According to the report, PBA Board vice chairman Dickie Bachmann voiced out his concern over Kia’s motives for trading the top pick.
“We’ve been hearing rumors about Kia trading its No. 1 pick to San Miguel. I didn’t believe the rumors until it was confirmed by Commissioner Narvasa yesterday afternoon that there was a trade offer on his table.”
Based on the reports, Kia will send the number one pick to the San Miguel Beermen in the upcoming PBA draft for a package that includes Jay-R Reyes, Rashawn McCarthy and a choice between Keith Agovida or the Beermen’s first rounder this year (No. 12).
If this trade pushes through, Kia will be able to select either Christian Standhardinger, Kiefer Ravena or Jeron Teng, all of whom are rumored to be top three picks in the upcoming draft. This will further boost the championship core of the Beermen that includes four players in the 2017 Mythical First Team and the only player to win four straight MVPs.
