ESPN 5 reported that the Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas (SBP) has decided on the final 12 men that will make up the Gilas Pilipinas roster for the 2019 Southeast Asian (SEA) Games.
Leading the way are staples of Gilas Pilipinas, June Mar Fajardo, Japeth Aguilar, Troy Rosario and RR Pogoy. These men represented the country in the 2019 FIBA World Cup. Also part of this roster from the World Cup squad is Kiefer Ravena.
Majority of the 12-man team have represented the country in previous international competitions. Matthew Wright, Christian Standhardinger, Marcio Lassiter and Stanley Pringle all competed during the FIBA World Cup Qualifiers, while LA Tenorio has played for Gilas multiple times in his career.
Rounding out the 12 are two PBA veterans who are finally getting a chance to don the colors of the country. Chris Ross and Vic Manuel will be making their National Team debut in the 2019 SEA Games.
The final cuts from the 15-man pool assembled by Coach Tim Cone were Greg Slaughter, Scottie Thompson and Art Dela Cruz.
Gilas Pilipinas will be competing in the MOA Arena from December 4 to 10. They are gunning to continue the streak of gold medal finishes in the SEA Games and extend it to 12 straight.
