Nike teams up with Titan to celebrate the hoop culture

In our hoop-crazy country, basketball is not just a game. It’s a culture. Whether you play on dust courts and makeshift rims or in world-class arenas packed to the rafters, there’s a language and a certain way of life that ballers share.

That’s what Nike Philippines and basketball retailer Titan celebrate as they collaborate to bring the Titan x Nike Pop-Up Space.

“We wanted to create a ground zero for all consumers, who play love and live the game, to come together and enjoy the best of Nike basketball and sportswear,” Nike Philippines Country Manager Patrick Reyes said.

Nike has taken over Titan’s branch at Two Parkade in Bonifacio Global City. From now until December, the entire store will be dedicated to the products, services and experience that the Swoosh has to offer.

In the Philippines, Nike products are available practically everywhere. Very rarely will you step into a mall that doesn’t have a store that carries the Swoosh. So, why the need for a dedicated pop-up space?

“For us, it’s not just about having the products available, but also about bringing a holistic experience to our consumers,” Reyes answers the question. “And with BGC serving as the heart of youth and sports culture right now, we really wanted to be where all the excitement and action happen.”

The launch of the collaboration coincided with the drop of two flagship sneakers of Nike and the Jordan brand – the LeBron XV ‘Ghost’ and the Air Jordan XXXII ‘Breds’.

EKIN Product Specialist Soy Soriano talked about the new features of both shoes. “On the AJ XXXII, first time for Jordan basketball, we’re coming out with the Flyknit. This actually adds durability but doesn’t sacrifice the flexibility and the lightweight and breathable properties of the shoe.”

There’s also something new for LeBron James fans. “It’s the first time we’re coming out with the Flyknit version for LeBron’s line. It’s called Battleknit,” Soriano explained. “It gives the shoe the sock-like feel that LeBron is looking for.”

Nike is also celebrating the 35th anniversary of the Air Force 1 – an iconic shoe in hoops culture. In line with this, the Swoosh will be dropping a new colorway every Friday.

More than the pop-up space, Nike is also coming up with a showcase that truly celebrates the game of basketball. Starting November, Nike will be taking over the Titan Love Court to stage Battle Force Manila.

“Battle Force is a series of competitions that will touch on five-on-five basketball, dance, rap and art battles. That will bring together everyone who touches on the culture of the game,” Reyes explained.

The Titan x Nike Pop-Up Space will be up until December. More details on Battle Force Manila will be released on this in the coming weeks.
