Nike bids farewell to the Hyper Court @ BGC

The community celebrated the closure of the iconic court in true MANILA style.

The iconic Nike Hyper Court @ BGC (Bonifacio Global City) that has driven the Pinoy love for basketball since 2017 – is set to close its doors at the end of this year. The court that has been recently reclaimed for redevelopment by its landowners, was a true representation of the country’s never-ending love for the game.

To commemorate the closure of the Nike Hyper Court @ BGC, Nike held a series of 3×3 games for local female and male ballers in Manila. The celebration was attended by coaches and renowed basketball athletes such as Kiefer Ravena, CJ Perez, Aljun Melecio, CJ Cansino, and Camille Clarin.

Team Happy, made up of Ronald Caliente, Albert Urbano, Chris Dabbay and Clark Ongpauco emerged as the champions of the male division, after defeating Mount Olympus in the Finals. The Piyu team of Justin Alano, Jaine Del Prado, Matet Samonte. and Zahnezra Babasanta emerged victorious in the women’s division over team Pateros.

Providing a special place for Filipino ballers to raise their game since its opening in early 2017, this court had become the beating heart of BGC. The court had enabled consumers to put in an extensive, cumulative amount of training hours (approximately 377,000 hours) and catered to community building through pick-up basketball or open play, over its existence of two years.

“Since our Hyper Court launched two years ago at the BGC, it has cemented its position as a thriving hub for Filipino ballers. To see so many people from the community come out to be a part of this celebration, shows the love and passion for the game and this Hyper Court at BGC. Nike will continue to cater to the country’s basketball passion by serving Filipinos with continuing innovation and inspiration through other events and the remaining Hyper Courts,”.

The event was also highlighted by a VIP exhibition shootout among select athletes and celebrities. Good Kidz and Careless Music – bannered by celebrity James Reid – provided the musical treat for attendees throughout the day.

Titan, the leading authenticator of the basketball category for Nike also surprised basketball fans with an exclusive opportunity to purchase the newest Air Jordan 11 ‘Bred’ at the venue.

Four other Hyper Courts continue to fuel the love for the game in other areas: the Ususan Court in Taguig, Scarlet Homes Covered Court in Parañaque, and the YCL Covered Court in Quezon City. The Comembo Covered Court in Makati is currently under renovation.
