One of the rising stars of the young Brooklyn Nets will have likely miss the rest of the season after suffering a gruesome leg injury.
Near the end of the of the first half in the game between the Nets and the Minnesota Timberwolves, Caris LeVert went up high to block a fast break attempt by Josh Okogie. He landed hard on his right leg as Okogie fell under him. LeVert immediately clutched his right leg as trainers and teammates huddled around him.
From the replay and the looks on the faces of LeVert’s teammates, the injury looked bad. LeVert’s leg bent unnaturally. His teammates looked distraught after seeing the extent of the injury.

LeVert was stretchered off the court and was taken to a nearby hospital to undergo a full evaluation on his leg. There are no official updates yet from the team at this point.
Brooklyn eventually lost the game to the Timberwolves. LeVert had 10 points, five rebounds and four assists before the injury happened.
This casts a pall on a solid start this season by the Nets. Before the loss to the Timberwolves, the Nets were at 6-7 and fighting for to stay in the top eight of the Eastern conference.
LeVert was the brightest spots on the rebuilding team. He was averaging a team-high 19 points on 47% shooting. He wasn’t only putting up numbers but he was playing big when the game mattered most. Two games before,
LeVert delivered a big win for the Nets when he drilled home a floater to down the Denver Nuggets. That wasn’t his first game-winner of the season too. LeVert nailed a clutch layup against the Detroit Pistons earlier in the season. LeVert was garnering early All-Star and Most Improved Player considerations because of his play.
