The NBA announced today their schedule of games for NBA Tip-Off Week, Christmas Day and Martin Luther King Day for the 2018-2019 season.
The new season kicks off on October 16 (October 17, Philippine time) with a classic match-up between the Philadelphia 76ers and the Boston Celtics. These two teams met in the 2018 Playoffs, rekindling an old rivalry from the 80s. Other notable games from that week will be the match-up between West Playoff teams, OKC Thunder and Golden State Warriors as the second game on opening day.
The new-look Los Angeles Lakers will open their season on October 18 (October 19, Philippine time) against the Portland Trail Blazers. Kawhi Leonard’s debut with the Toronto Raptors will be on October 19 (October 20, Philippine time) at home against the Celtics.
LeBron James will be facing the Warriors for the fourth straight year on Christmas. The Lakers-Warriors match-up is the highlight of this season’s Christmas Day Games. Key Playoff contenders from the West will also do battle during the holidays. The Thunder face the Houston Rockets with former Thunder, Carmelo Anthony now in Rockets uniform. The Blazers will travel to Utah to battle the Jazz in the final match-up of the day.
The NBA also announced the Martin Luther King Jr. Day Games for next season. The big match-up of the day will be when the Warriors travel to LA to face the Lakers. The New Orleans Pelicans go up against the Memphis Grizzlies to kick-off the MLK Day Games.
The full NBA schedule for the 2018-2019 season will be released within the week.
