In the midst of an unbeaten run in the 2016 William Jones Cup, Mighty Sports PH already has their next tournament lined up, according to a report by Singapore’s Today Online.
Mighty Sports PH will be one of six teams competing in the Merlion Cup in Singapore, from September 21 to 25, at the OCBC Arena.
Also competing in the event are the Korean Basketball League’s Seoul Samsung Thunders, Taiwan Super Basketball League’s Kinmen Kaoliang Liquor, the Chinese Basketball Association’s Shanghai Sharks, and ASEAN Basketball League sides Westports Malaysian Dragons, and the home team Singapore Slingers.
The Merlion Cup in basketball has been on hiatus for the past 20 years, according to the report.
Teams will be divided into two groups of three squads each, with the top two from each side progressing to a crossover semifinals.
It is unclear how the team will construct the roster for this tournament, as of writing. Unlike in the Jones Cup, where they are currently parading seven imports, Mighty Sports PH will only be able to bring three non-Filipinos this time out.

The team might be made up of semi-pro players from the PBA D-League, as the PBA, NCAA, and UAAP will all still be on-going by the time of the tourney.
