Meralco gets Almazan for two first round picks

The Meralco Bolts finally get their big man.
They shipped away two future first round picks to get Rain or Shine center, Raymond Almazan. The Elasto Painters will get the 2019 and 2021 picks of the Bolts. This trade has already been approved by the PBA.

The Bolts are getting a two-way big man who can immediately step in as their starting center. Almazan is a dynamic big man who can attack the hoop and hit the outside shot. Defensively, he’s and agile 6’8″ defender who uses his length to disrupt plays.

Almazan was limited in the Philippine Cup, playing only six games averaging eight points and six boards. The rise of Jewel Ponferada and Norbert Torres crowded the front court of Rain or Shine. This trade allows Almazan to play big minutes with Meralco, freeing up space in Rain or Shine’s rotation.

The Elasto Painters continue to surround the core of James Yap, Gabe Norwood and Beau Belga with young talent. They will have two first round picks later this year.
