The Alaska Aces have suspended their star forward Calvin Abueva indefinitely. The team released a statement from owner Mr. Wilfred Uytengsu on their social media accounts this afternoon.

Abueva has once again been missing in action. According to Coach Alex Compton, Abueva hasn’t been in contact with them since the PBA All-Star Break. “He hasn’t showed up for practice since the All-Star break. We’re been reaching out to him and we know people around him are ok. He’s just going through some personal issues and we’re just hoping he’s safe and alright,” said Compton.
He played in all three legs of the PBA All-Star Week both for Gilas and the Luzon All-Stars. But after that, he missed the Aces’ last game against the GlobalPort Batang Pier.
This isn’t the first time Abueva has gone missing this season. Just last January, the Beast reportedly missed several Alaska practices and had to leave before their game against Blackwater to attend family matters.
According to the statement by the team, the punishment isn’t for taking time off to arrange personal issues. Rather it is because of Abueva’s failure to inform the team of his whereabouts during his time away from them.
This suspension doesn’t affect Abueva’s place in Gilas. Alaska is still allowing him to play for the National Team if Coach Chot Reyes does decide to include him on the Gilas roster.
