The game was a shootout as soon as the ball was thrown up for the opening tip. Mike Nzeusseu came out firing for the Pirates as he dropped eight points on perfect shooting from the field and from the line. That allowed Lyceum to take an eight-point lead in the first period.

The Knights immediately fought back. Down by six to open the second period, Yu and Batiller matched-up to the Marcelino twins by turning up the pace and combining for 13 points of the team’s 24 points in the period. Letran took a four-point lead heading to the half.

Letran continued to take control of the game and they looked like they were going to blow out the Pirates in the fourth period. Yu and Muyang formed an inside-out combo that led a 15-2 run to build Letran’s biggest lead of the game at 12. The Pirates wouldn’t let the Knights get away with the win easily. They fought back to get to within three points with less than 30 seconds left in the game.

The Knights found the dagger off the timeout. They didn’t succumb to the Lyceum pressure defense, moved the ball around and got it to Muyang. He scored a short stab to extend Letran’s lead to five. That was enough to secure the win and the seat in the Finals.
