LeBron James leads his team to a close win over Team Steph in the 2018 All-Star Game

Everyone expected drama, buckets, no defense and another blowout. What this year’s All-Stars delivered was a highly competitive match-up that featured defense and last-minute heroics. Team LeBron edged out Team Steph 148-145.

With the game on the line in the final minutes of the fourth quarter, the biggest superstar in the NBA took over.

LeBron James led his team to a comeback from a double-digit deficit. He tied the game at 144 with a big three-pointer with 1:31 left on the clock. DeMar DeRozan hit a free throw to give Team Steph the lead in the following possession. James reclaimed the lead when he hit a layup in the paint off a nice pass by Kryrie Irving. DeRozan turned the ball over in the next possession and Westbrook soared in for the layup to give Team LeBron a three-point lead with 10 seconds left in the game.

Team Steph still had a chance to tie the game and they looked to their captain to bring the big shot. James teamed up with Kevin Durant to blanket Curry on the final possession. The two delivered the biggest stop of the game as Curry couldn’t get a shot off as he was trapped in the right corner.

James was awarded the All-Star MVP as he finished with a near triple-double. He led his team in scoring and rebounding and tied with Westbrook for most assists. He finished with 29 points, 10 rebounds and eight assists.

Team Steph led by as much as 13 points in the first half as his team put on a show early. Damian Lillard was doing his best Curry impression dropping bombs from way beyond the arc while the young bigs Joel Embiid, Karl-Anthony Towns and Giannis Antetokounmpo did work inside.

The game became entertaining as Team LeBron closed the gap in the third quarter with defense and big plays from James. Team Steph tried to pull away in the fourth quarter as they took an eight-point lead midway through the final period. But Durant, Irving and Westrbook teamed up to get them back in striking distance for the final push by James.

Even though the game was competitive, there were still light moments wherein the All-Stars had fun with each other. Curry was entertained by the tight game between the two teams and enjoyed it to the fullest.

Anthony Davis had a touching tribute to his teammate DeMarcus Cousins who couldn’t play in the game due to injury. He rocked Cousins’ All-Star jersey during game.

There was no drama between ex-teammates like Irving and James as well as Durant and Westbrook. Things were light and jovial as the four members of Team LeBron got along very well as evidenced by the passing in the go-ahead bucket by James.
