After a quick break, Gilas Pilipinas is back to training as they gear up for the 2017 FIBA Asia Cup. Coach Chot Reyes announced on Twitter that practice for the National Team resumes on June 20. He also revealed the names of the players that will be part of the training pool later this month.
The bulk of the players that will be training will be composed of players that were part of the Gilas Pool announced last October. Players like Jio Jalalon, Mike Tolomia, Almond Vosotros, Ed Daquioag, RR Pogoy, Matthew Wright, Von Pessumal, Carl Bryan Cruz, Mac Belo and Fonso Gotladera will be resuming National Team duties.

Coach Reyes also added some new names to the Gilas Pool. Joining the training later this month are FEU big man, Raymar Jose, former King Eagle Kiefer Ravena, the high-flying Kobe Paras and Fil-German Christian Standhardinger.
Jose was part of the Gilas Cadets team that competed in the 2016 Stankovice Cup. Ravena was a key player in the Gilas Cadets team that won gold the 2015 SEA Games. Paras has represented the country in various 3×3 tournaments. But this is the first time he will be fully part of the Gilas Pool. Standhardinger is the newest name to the Gilas Pool. The 27-year old forward has been playing professionally in Germany.
The FIBA Asia Cup will start on August 8 in Lebanon.
