The JRU Heavy Bombers allowed the EAC Generals to take the lead. But they didn’t allow them to take the win. The Heavy Bombers took home the win, 64-58. That’s JRU’s third win in seven games. The Generals take on their fifth loss in six games.
Freshman John Amores played well once again for JRU. He led the team with 16 points and six rebounds. Chester Jungco played a crucial role in the win. He was big in the fourth quarter to help the Heavy Bombers take the win. Jungco finished with 12 points on 50% shooting. Marwin Taiwan led EAC with 14 points.
The Heavy Bombers took the early lead in the game. They prevented EAC from getting anything on the board, limiting them to only four points in the first period. On the offensive end, JRU was to jump out to a 13-point lead midway through the second period. The Heavy Bombers eventually settled for a seven-point lead heading to the half.
That advantage wouldn’t be enough to keep the Generals at bay. Behind CJ Cadua and Taiwan, EAC slowly chipped away at the lead and took over with their own seven-point spread heading to the final period. The Generals limited the Heavy Bombers to just six points in the third period.
That’s when JRU found their ace from off the bench. Jungco came into the game in the final period and scored eight of his 12 points during a crucial stretch. He formed the bulk of JRU’s 16-2 run that gave them a 54-47 lead. That would be too much for the Generals to overcome.
