Barangay Ginebra will be missing one of their biggest pieces in the coming conference.
Greg Slaughter announced through an Instagram post that he will be taking a break from basketball.
With his contract completed, this was the perfect time for Slaughter to take a break. “With that, now that my contract has expired, I’ve decided to take a break to be able to work on myself in all aspects,” he announced in his post.
Slaughter took the time to thank SMC Officials, Team Management, Coach Tim Cone, his teammates and the Ginebra fans for the support they showed him throughout his six years with the team.
Slaughter played a key role for Ginebra during their Championship run in the Governors’ Cup last season. He was their sixth man off the bench, scoring 10.6 points, grabbing 7.0 rebounds in more than 28 minutes of playing time.
Right now, it’s unclear what Slaughter’s future plans are or how long his break will be. “I may not know what the future holds, but one thing is for sure, the best is yet to come,” he added in his statement.
