After three tough games where the outcome could have gone either way, Barangay Ginebra made sure there would be no doubt of the outcome in Game 4. They dominated the Meralco Bolts to win by 22 points, 94-72. Ginebra is now one win away from the Governors’ Cup Championship.
Justin Brownlee was an all-around force in Game 4. He finished with an incredible stat line by scoring 27 points, grabbing eight rebounds, dishing our eight assists, nabbing five steals and collecting four blocks. He was backed up by Stanley Pringle who finished with 21 points and seven rebounds. Allen Durham led Meralco with 21 points and 27 rebounds in the loss.
After a tight first period, Ginebra pulled away in the second set with Brownlee leading the way. He scored 11 of Ginebra’s first 18 points of the quarter to lead them to a double-digit lead. Ginebra went on a 17-4 run to turn a tie ball game into a blowout. Brownlee started the run with a big basket and capped it off with a flurry of shots, as he scored seven straight points during that run. When he was through, Ginebra was up by 13. They settled for an 11-point lead heading to the break.
Ginebra broke the game wide open in the fourth quarter. The bench mob teamed up with Brownlee to go on a 13-0 run that turned a 14-point advantage into a 27-point valley. Brownlee scored two points and assisted on two baskets during that run. Ginebra never looked back after that, cruising to their third win of the series.
