Right in the middle of the ongoing PBA Finals, the Alaska Aces have completed a trade to bolster their team. They acquired athletic combo guard Maverick Ahanmisi from the Rain or Shine Elasto Painters for Chris Exciminiano and the first round pick.
The PBA announced the official trade between the Aces and Elasto Painters earlier today:
🚨 TRADE 🚨@Alaska_Aces – acquired the rights to Maverick Ahanmisi.@bayanngrosoffcl – acquired the rights to Chris Exciminiano and Alaska’s lowest 2019 1st round pick.#PBALabanKungLaban pic.twitter.com/gHanuTaag2— PBA (@pbaconnect) August 16, 2019
The Aces are adding a dynamic guard in Ahanmisi. He fits perfectly into the multi-talented guard rotation that Alaska currently has. Ahanmisi can play the point guard and relieve Chris Banchero or play alongsid the Aces’ lead guards as a scoring guard like Simon Enciso. Ahanmisi is currently recovering from an inury that kept him out of the entire Commissioner’s Cup.
The Elasto Painters on the other hand continue to stockpile draft assets. With the emergence of young guns like Rey Nambatac and Javee Mocon, Rain or Shine will continue to play the youth card moving forward. They acquire an additional pick this year and also get a defensive guard in Exciminiano.
