2017 NBA Playoffs: Hot-shooting Celtics down Wizards, go up 3-2

Here’s what happened on day 24 of the 2017 NBA Playoffs:

BOS 123 – WAS 101, BOS leads series 3-2

This time it was the Celtics that came out firing in the first quarter, and the Wizards had no response to it.

After Washington got out to a 4-0 start, Boston unleashed a 16-0 blitz, and proceeded to run away with this one on their home court.

Bradley Beal nailed a layup to pull the Wizards within eight, 24-16, 2:21 left in the first period, but it was the last time in this game they were within single digits. Washington countered with seven straight, before settling for a 33-21 advantage after the initial 12 minutes.

The Celtics led 67-51 at the half, and continued to repulse any comeback attempts by the Wizards. After trailing by as much as 22 to that point, five markers by Ian Mahinmi spanning the third and fourth quarters got the visitors within 15, 93-78. A flurry of outside Boston shots produced a 15-3 run, pushing the score to 107-81, leading both sides to send in their benches to close this one out.

Avery Bradley top-scored for the Celtics with 29 points. He hit 12-of-19 shots, including 4-of-7 from downtown, and added six rebounds and three assists. Al Horford logged 19 points, missing just one attempt, plus seven rebounds, while Jae Crwoder and Isaiah Thomas contributed 18 markers each. Thomas also dished out nine dimes.

John Wall led Washington with 21 points. He was just 7-of-17 from the field however, with only four assists. Bradley Beal scored 16 on 19 tries, while Otto Porter and Kelly Oubre each put up 13 markers.
